WARRANTY, RETURNS, CANCELLATION & BOOKING POLICY

General Terms

By booking work with Skillen Industries Diesel, supplying a vehicle for inspection, repair or tuning, purchasing parts, or accepting a quotation, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).


Workmanship Warranty

Skillen Industries Diesel provides a workmanship warranty on general repair and installation work for:

3 months or 5,000 kilometres (whichever occurs first)

from the original invoice date, unless otherwise stated in writing.

This warranty applies only to defects directly caused by our workmanship.

Warranty claims must be returned to Skillen Industries Diesel for inspection and assessment before any repairs are undertaken elsewhere.

Unauthorised third-party repairs may void warranty consideration.

Workmanship warranty does NOT cover:

     

      • normal wear and tear

      • abuse, misuse or neglect

      • racing, motorsport, competition or off-road competition use

      • overheating caused by unrelated failures

      • pre-existing worn or damaged components

      • failures caused by age or vehicle condition

      • unrelated mechanical breakdowns

      • consequential loss or damage

      • customer-supplied parts

      • failures caused by another workshop, installer or repairer


    Performance Tuning & Performance Upgrades

    Performance tuning and aftermarket upgrades are intended to improve vehicle drivability, towing performance and overall performance.

    By proceeding, the customer acknowledges:

       

        • performance modifications increase stress on engine, drivetrain and associated components

        • pre-existing weaknesses may become apparent after tuning

        • no guarantee is made regarding specific power gains, torque gains or fuel economy outcomes

        • results vary depending on vehicle condition, driving style, load, maintenance history and existing modifications

      Vehicles must be mechanically sound before tuning.

      Skillen Industries Diesel reserves the right to refuse tuning where mechanical concerns are identified.

      No consequential mechanical warranty

      Skillen Industries Diesel does not provide warranty coverage for failure of:

         

          • engine

          • gearbox / transmission

          • clutch

          • transfer case

          • differentials

          • axles

          • turbochargers

          • injectors

          • fuel system components

          • cooling system components

          • driveline components

          • emission control components

        unless failure is directly proven to result from negligent workmanship by Skillen Industries Diesel.

        Claims such as:

        “It was fine before the tune”

        do not constitute proof of liability.


        Dyno Tuning Services

        Dyno tuning services are custom performance services based on the vehicle’s condition at the time of tuning.

        The customer acknowledges:

           

            • dyno tuning is not a guaranteed fix for underlying mechanical faults

            • hidden issues may be identified during testing

            • vehicles with pre-existing faults may be refused or stopped during tuning

            • custom calibration outcomes vary by vehicle

          Dyno bookings may require a deposit.


          Diagnostics

          Diagnostic inspections and fault-finding are chargeable services.

          Payment is due regardless of repair outcome.

          Diagnostic services may identify:

             

              • symptoms

              • likely causes

              • recommended next steps

            but do not guarantee immediate identification of all faults.

            Further diagnostic time may be required.


            Parts Warranty

            Parts supplied by Skillen Industries Diesel are covered by the relevant manufacturer or supplier warranty only, unless otherwise required by Australian Consumer Law.

            Warranty claims are subject to:

               

                • supplier assessment

                • manufacturer approval

                • inspection and testing

              Parts warranty does not automatically include labour for removal, refitting or associated downtime unless specifically approved.

              Parts warranty exclusions

              Warranty does not cover:

                 

                  • contamination

                  • misuse

                  • overheating

                  • incorrect operation

                  • installation by third parties

                  • unrelated component failure

                  • normal wear and tear

                Electrical components are generally non-returnable unless confirmed faulty.


                Customer-Supplied Parts

                Skillen Industries Diesel may install customer-supplied parts at our discretion.

                Where customer-supplied parts are fitted:

                   

                    • no warranty applies to the supplied component

                    • workmanship warranty applies only to installation labour

                    • additional labour caused by faulty, incorrect or incompatible parts is chargeable

                  No liability is accepted for failure of customer-supplied components.


                  Subcontracted Repairs

                  Skillen Industries Diesel may use trusted third-party subcontractors for specialised work.

                  Where subcontracted work is performed:

                     

                      • Skillen Industries Diesel remains the customer’s primary point of contact

                      • subcontracted work may be subject to subcontractor assessment

                      • warranty claims may require inspection by the performing contractor

                    Timing may vary depending on subcontractor availability.


                    Deposits

                    Deposits may be required for:

                       

                        • dyno tuning bookings

                        • workshop bookings

                        • major repairs

                        • special-order parts

                        • performance upgrades

                        • finance-approved work

                      Deposits are generally non-refundable once parts are ordered or workshop time is reserved, except where required by law.


                      Cancellations & Rescheduling

                      We understand circumstances change.

                      More than 48 hours notice

                      Bookings may generally be rescheduled without penalty.

                      Less than 48 hours notice

                      Late cancellations may result in:

                         

                          • forfeiture of deposit

                          • administration charges

                          • lost workshop time charges

                        Failure to attend

                        Failure to attend a confirmed booking without notice may result in:

                           

                            • loss of deposit

                            • refusal of future bookings without prepayment


                          Returns Policy

                          Returns are not accepted for:

                             

                              • special-order parts

                              • custom ordered performance products

                              • electrical components

                              • opened consumables

                              • installed parts

                              • tuning services already completed

                              • labour already performed

                            Approved returns may attract:

                               

                                • supplier restocking fees

                                • freight charges

                                • handling/admin fees

                              Return approval is at management discretion where legally permitted.


                              Finance Bookings

                              For finance-assisted jobs:

                                 

                                  • finance approval does not automatically confirm a booking

                                  • bookings are only confirmed once accepted by Skillen Industries Diesel

                                  • finance provider terms and conditions apply separately

                                Where customer cancellation causes provider fees, admin costs or unrecoverable charges, those costs may be passed on where legally permitted.


                                Quotes & Estimates

                                Quotes are based on information available at the time provided.

                                Additional work may be required where:

                                   

                                    • hidden faults are discovered

                                    • parts availability changes

                                    • prior repairs are found to be defective

                                    • additional labour becomes necessary

                                  Estimates are not fixed quotes unless clearly stated.


                                  Vehicle Collection & Storage

                                  Vehicles should be collected promptly once work is complete.

                                  Storage charges may apply where vehicles remain onsite without arrangement.

                                  Uncollected vehicles may be handled in accordance with applicable law.


                                  Limitation of Liability

                                  To the maximum extent permitted by law, Skillen Industries Diesel is not liable for:

                                     

                                      • indirect loss

                                      • consequential loss

                                      • towing costs

                                      • accommodation costs

                                      • hire vehicle costs

                                      • lost income

                                      • downtime

                                      • missed trips

                                      • missed work commitments
